Great Hearts Announces Newest Campus in Northwest San Antonio

Leading charter network will open new facility for 2018/2019 school year
SAN ANTONIO, TX. — August 22, 2017 — Great Hearts Academies has announced plans for its third campus in San Antonio with a ground-up build at 8702 Ingram Road, San Antonio, TX 78245. The campus has been named Great Hearts Western Hills and will open its doors for the 2018/2019 school year.
Great Hearts academies are tuition-free public charter schools that offer a classical liberal arts curriculum incorporating advanced math and science, a focus on the arts and foreign language, and a wide range of extra- curricular activities and athletics. The mission of Great Hearts is to cultivate the minds and hearts of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
The new campus will initially serve 560 students in grades K-4 and expand a grade level each year eventually serving grades K-12. Phase I construction starts this Fall and Phase II will begin in subsequent years. At full capacity, the school will accommodate a total of approximately 1,400. Phase I will include classrooms, science labs, art studios, music rooms, courtyard/play area, teacher workrooms and administrative space. Phase II will have additional classrooms, a sports field and a gymnasium, in addition to other amenities.
“The fact that nearly 4,000 students are currently on our waitlist is an indication that parents want to see their children attend a Great Hearts academy,” stated Aaron Kindel, Superintendent of Texas Schools for Great Hearts. “We are proud and excited to announce our newest campus in northwest San Antonio and look forward to serving even more students and families.”
Great Hearts also offers its exceptional classical, liberal arts model at additional Texas academies: Great Hearts Monte Vista North, Monte Vista South and Northern Oaks in San Antonio, as well as the Great Hearts Irving campus.
